Keepin Up With... Camilla d'errico

RDC: We got in touch with Cami just recently, here's what she had to say.

 Hi The Collective

Oh my gosh, it's been complete craziness the past while- I broke my thumb, on my drawing hand of course, and I've been out of town at an artist residency in Mineappolis.

Right now is a bit quiet on the exhibition front while I work on some comics related projects. I participated in the Tomb Raider 15 Year Celebration collaborative project, which was pretty darn cool; see below.

We'll be gearing up in the spring for a whole new year of exhibitions and conventions, some of which I'll be contributing art for. There'll be more to say then, so I'd love it if you checked back!

Thanks for thinking of me, and I hope you're doing great!
Ciao ciao

Hang Outs... Notts, Element Party

Element Store
Opening Party, 26th November 2011.
Done and Dusted!

First of Two Posts

It took a few weeks for the builders to integrate some nifty internals to the brand new Element shop on Fletchergate in Nottingham, UK. With it finally completed a few days before the official opening, it was all hands on deck for the Two Seasons girls and boys to get the stock dusted down and placed in their new environment before the big opening party on the Saturday.

The Collective arrived about an hour before the launch at 12 o'clock to slam a few stickers around and get the Relentless Drinks unpacked and available for the thirsty. There were plenty of them, with at least 6 live soloists/bands rocking the joint, Dilk the graffiti artist sucking in fumes from the spray, DJ Kid Colours fingering the decks, customers gathering to peruse and purchase and at least 8 staff members running around with the aim to please.

A wicked and entertaining day was had by all that attended!
If you couldn't make this one don't despair, there are plans to have another rocker of a day some time next year.

 Dilk, painting on the legal side of the street.

 Drummer from Kappa Gamma band juicing up.

 Plenty of visits to the stock room.

This event in August 2011 featured over 70 street artists from all over the globe, transforming an urban landscape into an outdoor art show. Images from the infamous Nelson Street which transformed an abortion of modern architecture into a spray street spectacular.

You will see a lot of the Bristol based crews inside but also there's:
Tatscru from NYC
Kashink from Paris
El Mac from LA
Mr Wany from Italy

Flesh Cut Fridays With Luci Westphal

The Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site in Atlanta, Georgia (established in 1980) includes King's boyhood home and the Ebenezer Baptist Church (he and his father had been pastors there), the Civil Rights Walk, a Gandhi statue, the World Peace Rose Garden, the King Center, a colorful mural about King' life, The Freedom Walk, The Chapel of All Faiths, a modern church, an internal flame and last but not least a reflecting pool and the tombs of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King.

My original intent was to make a 1-minute video about my entire trip to Atlanta, where I had gone this week for a screening of my documentary All God's Children at PushPush Theater and to visit my friends Debbie and Rob and maybe catch a glimpse of Mike and Pat.

However, when Debbie and I went on our photo and video safari through Atlanta, I was so moved by the memorial to Rev. King and his message, that I decided to just focus this short minute on the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site.

As mentioned above there are quite a few elements to the historic site, but I was most taken in by the restored church, with his original microphone and his voice booming over the speakers. What a man, what a beautiful message of equality and peace! So fitting again in our time right now with all the protests here in America and overseas.

The snippets you hear seem to be excerpts from a variation of the "I have a dream" speech.

Now my plan is to upload a few photos of the Atlanta visuals that didn't make it into the video (street art, Oakland cemetery, etc.) to my Flicker page instead.

I'm especially happy to finally have my dear friend Debbie Foreman in a video. She has been by far my biggest supporter in this "In A Minute" endeavor - not counting Scott, who's great at giving me constructive feedback while I'm editing.

The Big Snow Festival returns to the slopes from the 23rd to 29th March 2012 and is set to be ‘the’ event of the winter as it enters its third year. Since its launch in 2010, The Big Snow Festival has proved to be a mountainous success with snow and music festival fans, and as the festival doubles in size for 2012, the organisers are proud to announce some exciting new developments!

The Big Snow Festival has joined forces with EXIT Team, the creators of the legendary EXIT festival in Novi Sad, Serbia, recognised as one of the leading music festivals in the world. And what’s more, the festival will be moving to its brand new home in the stunning resort of Kopaonik, the largest ski area in Serbia.

The move to Kopanik and working with EXIT Team will bring a new and exciting dimension to The Big Snow Festival and organisers are thrilled by the new partnership. Festival organiser, Deborah Milroy comments;

“We are really excited about our new home in Kopaonik. The resort is beautiful and the perfect setting for The Big Snow Festival. By teaming up with EXIT Team, we can most certainly promise our fans a memorable experience for 2012. The line-up is currently under wraps, but you can be sure to expect big things!”

Dusan Kovacevic, founder of the EXIT festival says;
