Catchin The Switch

We hit the Switch Studios not so long ago and as you know, we like to experience the place where it all happens, the place where art is produced, where people sit around and talk about their next projects and then 'Get on with it'!

Switch Studios has it all, the gallery, the work space, the slight underground feel that gives it character and charisma.

Thanks to Smallkid, Shrunken Heads and the other artists that make up Switch and help make the place comes together really well!

More from Switch in some up and coming posts...

And if you fancy a display space it looks like there is one up for grabs (see above post)

Artists work shown on this post includes:
GING, BOASTER, GERMS, KID30, NIBOR, TRIS
SHRUNKEN HEADS.

Droppin the 'The'...

Due to popular demand we have taken a leaf out of Facebook's, umm... book and dropped the 'The' in The Rad Dad Collective - (Our email address will remain the same).

You the readers, thought it was a bit too much to have the extra word and we totally agreed with you. So now we are officially called 'Rad Dad Collective'... Enjoy.

Keepin Up With... Craww

Hey all,

I hope everyone's had a great Christmas and is looking forward to a prosperous New Year!

I wanted to drop you an email to give you a heads up on some new work I'm making available through my Big Cartel store http://craww.bigcartel.com/category/original-studies

I've had a lot of interest in the sketches I've been showing through my blog/Facebook and on Instagram, so I thought the end of the year would be a good time to make some of the work from my 2011 (mostly Moleskine) sketchbooks available.

I've added 8 pieces to the store, each one demonstrates something of the process I go through when I'm working on new ideas so hopefully you'll find them an interesting departure from a standard print release and also an affordable way to get hold of an original piece of Craww artwork!

Thanks all for the support you've given me over the past year, there's much more to come so here's looking forward to an awesome 2012.

cheers
Craww

Bike Art
'Bicycles in Art Around the World'
Author: Kiriakos Losifidis
Publisher: Publikat

Firstly, we want to congratulate Publikat Publishing for getting such an agreeable book out on the shelves for us to enjoy!

So that sorta sets the scene for this interesting title.
You'll find tandems, unicycles, tricycles, hand bikes, folding, race, mountain, BMX, choppers, the list is endless. We particularly are smitten with the concept bikes where KTM do an ace downhill jobby!

What's in the contents:
Urban Art
Paintings
Illustration
Tattoos
Sculpture
Concept Bikes

Some of the  Artists  on show include:
Falco
Funk
Nesse
Stinkfish
Linda Apple
"Cog"
Lovedust
Remedios
... and many more who have contributed to an eclectic and culturally diverse collection of pedal powered wheelers.

As you slip between the covers your eyes are hit by the intense variation of colour and form. They are also fortified by the way this title depicts sprockets, spokes, cassettes, down tubes, fixed wheels, shocks and steering tubes ... sorry we are going on again!

Have a look for yourself...

Big thanks to Samways, Derby, UK for use of their premises for this shoot.

Keepin Up With...Sally Jane Thompson

Hello Lovely Art / Comics Friends!

Just a quick Happy Christmas note - I hope you're all able to take a bit of a break and have a restful Christmas, and that you can start the new year fresh and rejuvenated and excited for all the awesome things you're going to make for the rest of us to enjoy! :D I hope I get to see you all at cons and events during the new year.

I've attached some Christmas comics cheer by way of a one-page comic drawn for comic anthology project Womanthology's Christmas pdf (partly because I didn't manage a Christmas illustration as I was drawing this instead!)

Blessings,
~Sally

Street Test... Eastpak 'Getter'

Eastpak
'Getter' Back Pack
From Their Urban Collection

Eastpak has kindly given us a backpack for our Street Test Feature.

And the saga continues...

We have had some pretty criminal weather just recently, plenty of downpours with a bitta snow thrown in for good measure. That means soggy ground and a mud bath out on the trails. So it's no surprise that we were mucked up to the 'Getter' on the photo shoot yesterday, even though the sun was out and the birds were singing the joys of spring.

It felt real good on the back and on some of the long up-hill pulls that we had to do to get to the intended shoot area, the bag didn't stress out the shoulders at all (the S and chest straps spread the load to take the stress off your upper arms on a long ride)!

As for visiting friends and artists at galleries - we discovered an almost attractive disdain towards the bag. Someone remarked, "Shit, that's loud" and eventually "I quite like it, it's growing on me" an attitude which seems to follow us wherever we went.

Looks like a big thumbs up to Eastpak so far...

More Testing to come, keep um peeled!

Coffee shop partner... lacking in conversation though, dang!

Zebster AKA Zeb, Roc, Ski
Author: Zebster
Publisher: From Here To Fame

We dragged this book kicking and screaming, way out of its comfort zone for this shoot!

Zebster would feel more at home in the smokey, diesel stained inner city train yards and stations than in the green lush countryside. Some may call it torture, we call it practicality and making the most of the sunny weather.

So here it is, a title dedicated to a graff artist called Zebster, a writer with extreme talent for colour and composition. A self- made historian and organiser of many Graffiti and Hip Hop projects which started in the early 1980's.
His life story is often controversial and frustrating, but he is mainly known for spreading this life style and culture around the globe.
