Hang Outs... Melbourne, Australia

 Stormie Mills
'Peoples and Places'

This coming Wednesday 3rd October is the opening night of Stormie Mills upcoming exhibition 'Peoples and Places' from 6:30 - 8:30pm.

Stormie Mills travelled extensively as a child, developing a passion for observing people. These observations continue to  inform his current character based work. His upcoming exhibition 'Peoples and Places' takes this process a step further, by using contextual characters within a landscape or environment that contributes to the definition of who we ultimately become. By connecting the idea of landscape and environment to his unique characters Stormie delivers a further insight into what it is that shapes who we are and how we get there.

Art + Culture Magazine
October 2012

Halloween is just around the corner and this is the theme for this issue of Juxtapoz Magazine!

Best read in a dark room using a flashlight, this month's issue displays artist Alex Pardee's work on the front cover. Who is Alex Pardee you may ask, he has been on the scene for a number of years now and is a free lancer. A multi-media artist who uses acrylics, oils, latex, watercolors, pens, inks and dyes. Working with companies like Twenty Twenty Skateboards and Hurley International. He has also done album covers for bands like Kid Robot, A Sense of Purpose and loads more.

So what have you got to look forward to:
Alex Pardee
Nychos
Sam Kieth
Jon Way$hack
Allison Sommers
Edmund McMillen
Dave Correia
Jhonen Vasquez
L'amour Supreme

Quote about Nychos from the magazine:
Nychos is a hack with a spray can, making sushi out of anatomical parts.
He is graffiti's unofficial surgeon, literally carving out his own niche.
I can't recall anyone working in this medium who dissects and explodes with such detail and imagination. His language consists of splattered internal organs, popping eyeballs, scalped heads and let's not forget , bunnies.

With that inspired incentive lets look inside...

a big thanks to Hersoid for participating in the shoot.

Borondo was born in Valladolid, Spain, in 1989.
He moved to Rome in the 2011 to attend the Academy of Fine Arts and now he is well known in the Roman Street Art Scene. Incorporating many artistic techniques, Borondo works mainly in an urban space, interacting with architectural structures and surfaces of all kinds. His personal artistic style is based on the use of colors with a strong preference for black.

Good Mornin All

From the Factory

The RDC Crew hooked up with Hersoid, for a morning session at the old Dye works yesterday. We had a damned good wander and got some cool shots (look for future 'Factory Fresh' post).

After that we settled down and got to work on with some bombing!
This is one of our contributions, (above) a slightly different approach but still keeping the LadyBirds in the mix.

Stolen Space Gallery

The Sound and Vision art show includes mixed media works on canvas weaving my social commentary with inspiration from a range of musicians, including the Sex Pistols, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Gang of Four, the Clash, the Circle Jerks, Kraftwerk, Public Enemy, Neil Young, and Metallica. Sound and Vision will also include an installation of a record store environment, with customized vintage turntables and a portion of my own record collection for public listening. The record store space will also showcase over 80 12"x12" images I've created as tributes to the 12" LP sleeve. A comprehensive variety of other works will be featured, including screen prints on wood, metal, and paper; rubylith cuts; and retired stencils.

Color Me Manga Graffiti
Illustrator: Shiro
Publisher: From Here to Fame

This is a coloring book for Kids of all ages.

Japanese female graffiti artist Shiro, has used manga styled characters as inspiration for this publication. Her fun loving vision of life comes out in her art with inspirations coming from old school hip hop, Bboy and of course manga culture.

Quote from Shiro:
Although manga wasn't my only interest as a kid (I was really more into video games), Japanese manga has a big impact on my art work. In Japan, manga is an important staple of our culture, as important as rice and chopsticks are in Japanese cuisine!"

It looks like it's time to get your crayon fingers ready.

Street Crimes... Who is Rad Dad?

Unmasked?

pic by Mat Le Louet

For years the RDC Crew has been trying to establish the true identity of Rad Dad. He is rarely seen without a dust mask or hoody while on the streets.

As luck would have it, over the weekend two of the Crew managed to track down the suspected Rad Dad long enough to pin him down and remove his dust mask.

We are still unsure of his true identity but managed to get a quick picture, before making a hasty retreat... the search does on!

SCOTT BELCASTRO
'Trying to be Neither'

A collection of new works by surrealist painter Scott Belcastro.

Opening Reception:  Saturday, October 20th 7-10pm

On View:  October 20th – November 3rd, 2012

The Art:
'Trying to be Neither' reflects the artist’s most personal work to date. Through an assemblage of original paintings, Belcastro explores the internal struggles one wrestles with on a daily basis as he or she confronts life’s uncertainties. “These paintings are my inner most thoughts and a way of expressing how I’m feeling most of the time,” states Belcastro. “In these paintings, I’ve put myself in various situations where I am at the mercy of something. I am weak, sometimes strong, sometimes nothing at all.”

The Artist:
Scott Belcastro grew up in the immense countryside of upstate New York, and the vast terrain of his childhood is reflected constantly through his ongoing artistic explorations. Belcastro’s paintings are a meticulous study of endless landscapes and skies; a struggle between illustration and abstract expressionism. They tell stories of inner silence, loneliness and the search for something larger within ourselves.
