Off The Shelf

Pablo Picasso
Women-Bullfighters-Old Masters
Publishers: Gestalten

Good old Pablo worked in loads of different media during his life time from stage design,  ceramists, printmaker, drafts person, sculpture- which includes plastic art- and painter (don't think we missed anything out).

This hefty bound publication consists of 290 pages of concise text and well cataloged pictures.  It's demonstrates the brilliance of this childhood generous who started out painting as a realist artist and finalised as a surrealist.

An ace quote from Picasso:
"Everyone has the same energy potential. The average person wastes his in a dozen little ways. I bring mine to bear on one thing only: my paintings, and everything is sacrificed to it【...】."

From the book:
"Women, Bullfights, Old Masters presents 200 graphic prints, lithographs, drawings, and collages from Pablo Picasso’s artistic beginnings in the early 1900s to his late works from the 1960s. Ranging from black and white to colorful, the artwork represents his various styles from classic to cubistic to surrealistic. The included texts not only examine the work in a historical context, but also reevaluate it from a contemporary point of view. "
