Athletes and party goers alike were treated to glorious sunshine at Relentless Energy Drink Boardmasters in association with Vans yesterday.
Thursday saw the conclusion of another exceptionally competitive series of surf comps, with some familiar faces battling it out in the final stages.
The men’s Davidoff Coolwater Longboard Final was a hotly contested event with last year’s 1st and 2nd placed athletes Antoine Delpero and local boy Ben Skinner coming head to head again. History repeated itself as Antoine eventually took top spot once again with Ben coming in second and Edouard Delpero taking the third.
In the Women’s Davidoff Coolwater Longboard Final was another hotly contested event with Miku Uemura from Hawaii putting in an inspired performance to hold off Alice Melissa Limoig and take the top spot on her first visit to the event.
The ASP 6 Star Men’s final was boiled down to reigning champ Romain Cloitre and Charles Martin. As the final surf final of the day the crowds had amassed on the beach and provided exceptional support and spurred on two highly competitive athletes to push the waves to the limit. In the end it was Charles Martin who returned to the beach victorious following an imperious display.

Skate-
The open skate jam gave everyone the opportunity to experience the new Vans Summer Sessions street course with extended mini set up. As ever the atmosphere was chilled and the standard of skating extremely high leaving everyone excited for the fierce competition to come.
Of course there’s plenty to whet the appetite outside of the various competitions and music acts. Day two saw Ben Grove premiering Northern skate video “NOW! That’s What I Call Skateboarding” at the infamous Beach Bar.
Thursday also saw the beach sessions taking place for everyone to enjoy. Standout performances from the brilliant October and The Voice UK's, Adam Isaac mean this is one stage to keep your eyes on ALL weekend.
As the night drew in, Xavier Rudd treated everyone to his unique chilled out sound and inventive take on instruments such as the didgeridoo and a bongo drum.
Tomorrow the music really kicks off at the Watergate site with man of the moment and Brit Award winning Ed Sheeran taking to the main stage. Joining him will be Grammy nominated DJ duo Ting Tings and London’s The Big Pink. Friday’s Dance Stage is headlined by dance music sensation DJ Fresh with his incredible show FRESH/LIVE.
